We are in the middle of the seven days of Sukkot. And when we talk about Sukkot, and about being surrounded by the Light of the Creator, it is important, I think, to bring our consciousness to a newer level.
During all the days of Sukkot, we are not only fixing this world, but we are literally planting the seeds for how the Light of the Creator will manifest in our lives and in this world. It is confusing, maybe, to hold a palm branch and a citrus fruit and understand the magnitude of what we are awakening, of what we are revealing. But we have to let go, as the kabbalists say, of everything of this world, and know that what we are doing on Sukkot is setting up not only our own lives, but also setting up the world for this year. It is an opportunity that is beyond our comprehension, and we have to know that.
Therefore, when we enter the Sukkah, we really need to let go as much as we can of our thoughts, of our ego, of our Desire to Receive for the Self Alone. In order to enter into the Sukkah, you cannot let anything hold you back in this world, in the world of the ego, of Desire to Receive for the Self Alone. And if a person does this, if a person is able to completely detach from that world during at least these seven days, then, the Zohar says, that person will receive supernal blessings.
The Zohar says that whoever sits under the canopy, the protection of true certainty, of emunah lemala min hada’at, certainty beyond logic, draws freedom. Freedom from everything - from pain, sadness, chaos, and death; for himself, his children, and his family, forever, and that he is blessed by all the supernal blessings. This is the opportunity that we have during Sukkot, for whoever sits under the protection and desires to connect to the emunah lemala min hada’at, certainty beyond logic.
It is from Sukkot, if you sit in the Sukkah, that we draw certainty to the entire year, and draw freedom from all forms of chaos. But you can be sitting there in the Sukkah and not sitting there, right? Because if you are attached to anything of the world, if you are attached to ego, to fear, to Desire to Receive for the Self Alone, then you are not sitting in the Sukkah. But if you desire to be completely enveloped by the Sukkah, in consciousness and thought, then you draw for yourself and your family freedom from all forms of chaos and negativity, forever, and you merit all supernal blessings. May we all merit truly being in the Sukkah on Sukkot, and through this connection, draw complete freedom and endless supernal blessings for ourselves, our family, and this world. Chag Sameach.
